Welcome Lora Wakefield, Our Office Staff Person

Lora Wakefield is no stranger to Hope United Church of Christ. She has walked her granddaughters, Kate and Jacey Walker, during Vacation Bible School and Christmas programs and worshiped with us from time-to-time. She has been serving as our custodial person since November 2020. Now, Lora is taking on a new role as our Office Staff Person.

Lora is originally from northeast Iowa, having lived most of her life in Fredericksburg while raising her four children, including Hope UCC member, Allison Walker. I have lived in Cedar Rapids now for 13 years.

Lora has 13 grandchildren and is kept busy watching their many events and activities. She enjoys cross-stitching and friends and taking care of her constant companion, Ruby, her dog.

With years of experience in a similar role, Lora will lend her skills and talents to Hope UCC as she greets guests who come to our building, answers phones, formats and prints our bulletins and newsletters, formats and distributes our e-publications, and offers general assistance to committees and the Council. Lora wrote, “I look forward to being part of the Hope UCC church family!”

You can reach Lora at the church office, 393-2400, or lori@hope-ucc.org. Her office hours are currently Tuesday and Thursday, 8:00 – 11:00 a.m. She will continue serving as our custodial staff person, working on Wednesdays to clean our building.
