Transgender Day of Remembrance
Tuesday, November 20, is designated as Transgender Day of Remembrance, which is a date set aside to honor transgender people around the world and to mourn those who have been lost to anti-transgender violence.
We are all children of God, worthy of love and respect, deserving of the same justice. Transgender Day of Remembrance gives us all a chance to claim this beautiful part of the tapestry of life, to lament the ways that justice has been limited or denied, to counter messages of hate or violence. It is a day for all of us to stand together and to recommit to the task of changing institutions that suppress rather than support.
Hope United Church of Christ voted in May 2016 to become an official Open and Affirming Church of the United Church of Christ thus trying to put into practice radical hospitality of welcoming all people.
