“Come Out” for Cedar Rapids Pride!

Can you believe that this is the fifth year that Hope United Church of Christ will be a part of the annual Cedar Rapids Pride Festival? Yes, you read that right—five years! (And this will be our second as an Open and Affirming Congregation too!) What a great thing to celebrate! So the Welcoming & Hospitality Team in conjunction with the Missions Committee would like to formally invite you to come out… to Pride!

Cedar Rapids Pride will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at NewBo City Market from 12-4pm.  Hope UCC will once again have a booth at the event. We’ve had a dedicated group of volunteers who have worked our space for the last few years, but we would love to have some new faces come and show the Extravagant Welcome our church has!

Now we all know that it gets hot in the summer time and it’s not always easy to be outside for long periods of time.  That’s why, along with our usual “swag”, we’re going to be giving out some cold water to the fest goers!  If you have other plans that weekend, or it’s hard to be out in the heat, please consider donating a flat or two of small size (8 oz.) bottles of water.

For LGBTQ+ persons, it is still important to have allies.  And one of the best ways that we can show our neighbors who we are is to be an ally to the community.  So “come out” to Pride and let’s really show folks the love of Hope United Church of Christ! Rain or shine, it’s always a good time!
