World Peace Day ~ Friday, September 21

“Peace begins with a smile.” ~ Mother Teresa

The International Day of Peace, sometimes known as World Peace Day, is observed annually on September 21. First celebrated in 1982, this day is dedicated to world peace and specifically the absence of war and violence. This year, the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is being recognized. From education to the arts, social justice to sports, health to the environment, neighborhood issues to service for others, there are many ways to participate in Peace Day. Consider creating a public or private activity related to peace, spreading the word about Peace Day, or attending an event in your community.
