Stillspeaking Writers Group Devotional Available for the Lenten Season

Deliver Us, the 2020 Lenten Devotional from the Stillspeaking Writers Group and The Transformation: From Darkness to Light, written by UCC youth and young adults, are new selections to the UCC collection of materials for the season of Lent. From the writers of the popular online Daily Devotional, Deliver Us includes a biblical text, reflection, and prayer for each day.

Here’s what has been written about Deliver Us:

Climate crises caused by global warming. Strident polarization in communities. Gaping income disparities between the richest of us and the rest of us. The rampage of racism and militarism. The existential and everyday threats we face are daunting. With faithful people across the ages, we cry out to God for deliverance … not only pleading for God to act, but seeking the courage to let God act through us. We can take such a risk … or we can play it safe. The Lenten season is a time for each of us to explore the ways in which we promote (or prevent) the deliverance we so desperately seek.

The Transformation: From Darkness to Light is a 46 day devotion to walk you through Lent. All entries were written by UCC youth and young adults between the ages of 12 and mid-30s and includes an additional message from General Minister and President, Rev. John Dorhauer.

Proceeds from the sale of this book will be used for additional programs and outreach for youth and young adults in the United Church of Christ.

The cost for Deliver Us is $3.00; the cost of The Transformation: From Darkness to Light is $10.00. A sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board in the main entryway and copies must be reserved by February 9.
