The Annual Cedar Rapids Police Department Awards Ceremony was held on Thursday, May 5, at the Veterans’ Memorial building. The ceremony helped pay tribute to employees, both sworn and civilian members, of the Cedar Rapids Police Department for their significant contributions to keeping the community safe and recognizing ways in which Officers helped citizens through often traumatic incidents. Award winners included Hope United Church of Christ member, Justin Kaczinski. Justin received awards for:
- Class E Commendatory Letter, given for demonstrating special faithfulness or perseverance during regular police duties
- Class H Lifesaving Award, awarded for the performance of an act demonstrating the use of any skill which results in the saving of a life
- Employee of the Quarter, given to an employee on a quarterly basis who has demonstrated exemplary work in some particular situation or has continually demonstrated work ethics of an outstanding quality and embraces community policing in a manner that can serve as a role model to others
