Iowa Conference Day of Sharpening and Annual Meeting

The Iowa Conference hosted A Day of Sharpening – Telling Our Story that offered individuals an opportunity to participate in workshops that included topics such as: testimony through social media, telling our stories through art, and nurturing the stories of children and youth. Special guest speakers for the day included: The Rev. Lawrence T. Richardson, a Minnesota native, pastor, writer, leadership coach and public speaker. He is the author of I Know What Heaven Looks Like and Glennon Doyle, is an author, activist, philanthropist, creator of the online community Momastery, and founder and president of Together Rising, a nonprofit for women and children in crisis.

More than 100 persons from churches and congregations around the Iowa Conference, United Church of Christ, gathered at West Des Moines Christian Church on Saturday, October 13, for the annual meeting. The meeting featured the installation of the Rev. Brigit Stevens as the Iowa Conference Minister, ratification of the UCC Constitutional Amendments as voted on by the Thirty-First General Synod (July 2017), and review and approval of 2019 budget.
