Faith in Action Sunday ~ July 29

“Faith in action is love – and love in action is service,” wrote Mother Teresa in her book, Love: A Fruit Always in Season.

On Sunday, July 29, those who gather here at Hope United Church of Christ will once again dedicate part of our morning to actually putting our faith into action by participating in a variety of projects here on site.  Some will benefit our own faith community; some will benefit the greater Cedar Rapids area.  Here are some of the opportunities that you will be able to choose from:

  • Tie One On : Finishing quilts for Camp Courageous
  • Sole Shoes: Making shoes out of denim (please bring any of the following items: pair of scissor to cut fabric, black Sharpie markers, old jeans – no stretch denim please, and clean, plastic containers)
  • Gift Bags: Filling bags with personal care items for guests of Olivet Mission
  • Hiawatha Elementary Surprise Gift: Water bottles for teachers and staff
  • Wish List: Donations of $10 gift cards for Westover BINGO game prizes (Wal-Mart, CVS, Walgreens, Hy-Vee, and local restaurants)
  • Clean up! Clean up!  Everyone do their share!  Small projects around our church building and grounds
  • Reading Buddies: a group will travel to Hiawatha Care Center to read to the residents there
  • Art on the Sidewalk: We will decorate parts of our sidewalk on the 10th Avenue side of our property to share with our neighbors as they walk that part of our community.

Come ready to worship. Come ready to put your faith in action.  Come ready for fellowship.
