Summer Reading Event Features Best Selling Author

This summer we are invited to look at our humanness … the joys and challenges for being mortal.  Whether it is because of illness or disease or because of our aging process, New York Times bestselling author, Atul Gawande, writes about medicine and what matters in the end.  In his book, Being Mortal, Gawande examines invites us to share in the stories of patients and their families, and even his own story, to examine the limitations and failures of the medical profession as life draws to a close.  He asks us to consider not the goal of “a good death, but a good life – until the very end.”

On Wednesday, June 21, we will meet to discuss chapters 1-4 and on Wednesday, July 26, to discuss chapters 5-8.  Our meetings will be held at Pastor Mary Beth’s home: 2230 Creekside Road, Springville, from 6:30 -8:00 p.m.

The book is available in a variety of places including local libraries, Amazon, and Barnes and Noble. It is available in paperback and hard cover copies.

A sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board in the main entryway of the church or contact Pastor Mary Beth at mbhartenstein@gmail.com or 393-2400 to be a part of this event.
