Hope UCC’s Book Club

Hope UCC’s Book Club had a great discussion of T.C. Boyle’s Tortilla Curtain as the discussion centered on attitudes towards immigration, the plight of illegal immigrants and of white privilege.  Our next book will bring us closer to home.  We will be reading Marilynne Robinson’s Pulitzer prize willing novel, Gilead.  Set in a small town in Iowa, Gilead tells “an intimate tale of three generations from the Civil War to the twentieth century: a story about fathers and sons and the spiritual battles that still rage at America’s heart” (Goodreads).  The Hope UCC’s Book Club will meet after Fellowship on March 15.

Nancy Kotalik stills have a couple of books left from the book club kit.  Let her know if you need one in order to join this month’s discussion.
