Whether someone has been through the death of a family member or friend, has gone through a job change, or undergone a move to a new home, there can be a sense of loss and a shadow of darkness that clouds one’s spirit. During the holiday season when many others are experiencing the feelings of joy and goodwill, those who have had these types of transitions in their lives can begin to feel overwhelmed.
In recognition of this difficult time for some within our community, Hope United Church of Christ will offer a Blue Christmas service, which will be held on Monday, December 8, at 5:30 p.m. Through scripture, prayer, and song, we will acknowledge the sadness and concerns in our lives and renew our hope in the promise of God’s presence with us.
Even during this wonderful time of the year, where the magic of the season’s first snow, the laughter of a child, the glow of a warm fire, can bring delight to one’s heart, it is also important to recognize our feelings of sadness and grief over the changes that have occurred in our lives. Yet, we must remember that into the darkness of grief and sorrow a great light has come – Emmanuel, God with us. Please join us for this special worship service.
